How to Hit a Baseball

Even the professional baseball players sometimes want to know how to hit a baseball and they might testify that hitting a baseball, again and again, is one of the most daunting tasks in the sport. For, even when the ball is pitched in the same place time and again via a batting machine, the nervousness might get the better of the batter. Throw in a real-life pitcher – and the varieties of the ball he can pitch, and it is safe to say that the difficult would go a notch up.

However, if you learn the aforementioned factors, you’ll be in the position of hitting a baseball with aplomb. Have a look.

Part 1: Get into position

First of all, you need to learn how to stand in the batter’s box. For, if you are a right-handed batsman, you ought to stand on the left side of the home plate in the box. As for a left-handed batsman, opting for the right side in the box seems the optimum choice.

Secondly, you need to determine which of your eyes can be dominant. To determine which of your eye is dominant, place your baseball bat at a distance of 6meters from you.

Now, extend your arm in front of you. Afterward, raise your thumb so that the object’s view is shrouded. Now, taking turns, shut off both eyes alternatively. The eye which allows you to see the distant object more clearly is the dominant eye. Next, choose your stance. It all depends on what makes you most comfortable.

Now, you need to hold your bat correctly. To do so, make sure that its grip is amid your fingers – and not between the palms. For a right-handed batsman, it is imperative that his right hand’s palm is pointing in the upward direction. At the same time, the left hand’s palm should be pointing downwards. For left handed batsmen, do the exact reverse.

Lastly, you need to learn how to raise your bat. After bending both elbows, push up your rear elbow until it is aligned with your rear shoulder. More importantly, both your elbows should be 6-8’’ away from you. Also, your rear shoulder should be 45* below the bat.

Part 2: How to swing it

There are seven steps to perfectly swing your bat and make sure that it hits the ball. Let’s take a brief look at each.

#step 1:

you have to watch the ball. When the ball has been thrown by the pitcher, keep your head steady and your eyes focused on the ball.

#step 2:

make sure that your entire weight is shifted to the back leg to the point that your back leg and shoulder are aligned. Now, after raising your front foot, take a little step in the direction of the pitcher.

#step 3:

it is important that you keep the front leg stable. However, if you feel that a flat knee doesn’t make you comfortable, bend it as per your discretion.

#step 4:

when you’re about to swing, raise the back heel. At the same point, you should shift your weight from the rear to front leg. This will make sure that more power is added to the swing.

#step 5:

to make sure the bat swings at a maximum speed, swing your entire body, including your hips. At this stage, your elbows should be bent and folded in the proximity of your sides.

#step 6:

when you are about to hit the ball, make sure that your bat is parallel to the ground. Similarly, make sure that it has come level to the plane of the trajectory of the ball. To get a good hit, try to hit the ball with the “sweet spot” of your bat.

#step 7:

hit the ball in the follow through of the swing. In simple words, you should hit the ball when the swing is at the most powerful position.

How to Raise a Cruiser Bicycle Seat

For a person who wants to remain comfortable while driving a Cruiser bike, the height of the bicycle seat is a crucial area. If it is slightly above the optimum height, the seat post would deprive the rider of the safety which comes by using his feet. Reciprocally, if it is below the perfect height, the seat post could induce joint pains. Thus, if you’re suffering from any of the above-mentioned problems, and want to take a break away from them, you’ve landed at the right place.

Through simple yet effective steps, we would show you how to raise a Cruiser bicycle seat. Consequently, you could be able to ride your bicycle with ease and comfort.

How to Raise a Cruiser Bicycle Seat

Step # 1: Loosen the bolt beneath the seat post

Assuming that you already know what seat height would suit you, the first step involves loosening the bolt. This bolt is located beneath the seat post. To do this, you need to have a 13 or 14mm wrench at your disposal. After placing the wrench around the bolt, rotate it – along with the bolt, in a counter-clockwise direction.

Step # 2: Indicate the height you want with a marker

Since you know what seat height suits you the best, make sure you remember it. To do this, take a marker of a bright color and mark the point on the post where you want your seat to rest.

Step # 3: Raise the seat

Now that you’ve loosened the bolt – and marked the point of elevation, all you have to do is to raise the seat post to this level. Unlike the above mentioned steps – which required a tool at your disposal, you could do this step with bare hands. If the seat is resisting, twist it from side to side to ensure that seat rises to its optimum height.

Step # 4: Lubricate the tube

As you might have guessed from the “twisting” part of the last step, your seat post has an element of friction to it. To reduce this friction, lube the seat tube. However, if your seat post is made up of a carbon-fiber, use a lubricant made up of dry graphite powder.

Step # 5: Make sure that the seat post is aligned with the frame

As you might know, aligning the whole seat with the frame is IMPOSSIBLE. For, the seat is curved and no matter how much you try, the whole seat post could not be aligned with the frame. Thus, it is the pointed end of the seat which you need to align with the frame.

Step # 6: Adjust the angle of the seat

The angle of the seat is one area which differentiates a men’s Cruiser bike from that of a women’s. In the case of a women Cruiser bike, wide pelvic bones call for a “TILTED DOWNWARD” seat post. For men, the seat posts are “TILTED UPWARD”.

While women won’t like it, the temptation of tilting the seat downward too much could cost them their comfort. For, a downward seat might induce strain in their arms and shoulders.

Step # 7: Tighten the bolt/lever

Although Best Cruiser bikes these days come up with a bolt, some of them also contain levels beneath the seat post. To make sure that no one goes wanting from this page, we’ve decided to include both methods.

Firstly, if there is a bolt beneath your seat post, repeat the STEP ONE with one difference. While you turned the bolt in the counterclockwise direction there, turn it along the clockwise direction in this case. In case there is a lever, tighten the bolt which is around the lever. However, if the bolt has closed too tight, unscrew it a few turns.

Congrats, you’ve raised the seat height of your cycle.

5 Must have Gear While Hiking

1# Some kind of navigation: It is really easy to get lost while hiking. Specially, you choose a spot with which you are not familiar. Without a proper navigation system or a map, you can be stuck there for hours, days even weeks. So, you should never forget to bring some sort of navigation system with you. You should always bring a compass with you. If you have a GPS make sure that you bring it with you.

2# Water filter: If you somehow get lost and do not have any GPS or map you could be stuck there for days. The water you brought (assuming that you brought water before) might end. Then you might end up depending on water from a pond or some other source (If you are lucky enough). But the source can be contaminated. So, make sure you bring a backpacking water filter with you and make sure you’ve got the best backpacking water filter(you don’t want to end up with a broken water filter, right?). With this, you can easily have access to clean water.

3# Extra cloths: If you are planning on a week-long hike, then make sure you bring extra pair of cloths. Also, if you choose a place where it’s cold in the night make sure you bring warm cloths like jacket or any other of your personal choice. Because you don’t want to freeze in cold.

4# Flash light: Make sure you bring a flash light (or a pair if you think you might need) with you. This will help you navigate in the dark.

5# First-Aid supplies: This is the most important of all. If somehow you get injured this will help you save your life. Infections can be very easily formed in jungle. So, make sure you clean your wound properly. Your first – aid kit must have the following –

  • Antiseptic
  • Antibacterial ointment

  • Butterfly bandages / adhesive wound-closure strips
  • Nonstick sterile pads
  • Medical adhesive tape (10 yd. roll, min. 1″ width)
  • Safety pins

  • First-aid manual

If you bring the above-mentioned thing while hiking you going to enjoy a stress-free hike. With nothing to worry about you will only enjoy mother nature.
